The Reserve Program welcomes and
recruits volunteers to work in both education and site management.
Rachel Carson Interpretive Volunteers provide all of the public field trips to the Rachel Carson site. Interpreters attend monthly meetings to learn
more about the natural history of these estuarine habitats as well as how to interpret them to a variety of people. Field trips are conducted during the spring, summer, and fall, several
times a week during low tides. Enthusiastic groups of 4 to 10 people enjoy the 2 hours spent on the islands of the Reserve. If you are interested in joining this
educationally talented and field hardy group of volunteers please contact the education office at 252-728-2170.
Volunteers are always needed to
conduct stewardship activities at many of the Reserve sites. From bird and turtle monitoring to sweeping the beaches and woods to fishing for red drum as well as participation in other
research projects. Please contact the site manager or office listed below to find out how you can help.
